What is “Stylized Digital Fractal Art”?
“Fractal art is a form of algorithmic art created by calculating fractal objects and representing the calculation results as still images, animations, and media. Fractal art developed from the mid-1980s onwards. It is a genre of computer art and digital art which are part of new media art. The Julia set and Mandlebrot sets can be considered as icons of fractal art.
Fractal art (especially in the western world) is not drawn or painted by hand. It is usually created indirectly with the assistance of fractal-generating software, iterating through three phases: setting parameters of appropriate fractal software; executing the possibly lengthy calculation; and evaluating the product. In some cases, other graphics programs are used to further modify the images produced. This is called post-processing. Non-fractal imagery may also be integrated into the artwork.” – from Wikipedia.
How I create “Stylized Fractal Art”
I use at least a half a dozen different fractal-generating software programs as all result in different looks and the options vary. The programs function in much the same manner as a kid’s Kaleidoscope only electronically, every time you move the mouse or image everything changes and you can’t reverse the process. This how I create the base image for my artwork, I pick art for transformation based on shapes and sometimes colors.
Sample of Fractal base art
I then begin the “Metamorphosing” process using Photoshop as my base program and using many plug-in programs and special techniques to create the finished “Stylized Fractal Art”. I never know what the finished piece will look like until it gets there. That’s part of creative process that I enjoy.
I like vibrant colors and unusual shapes and I use dozens of filters combined to accomplish the look I want. Below is my “Imagine It” series, all of these pieces were created from the image above.

Imagine It - #5
Seeing them all together you can see design elements of each but if displayed apart I don’t believe the average person would know they came from the same piece of original art.
This is what makes my style different and unique. I’ve been told by several knowledgeable in the art world that I have created a completely new art form.
All of my art is designed to be done on High Gloss Aluminum in a custom designed shadow frame which adds an additional visual dimension to the artwork. All my artwork is “limited edition”.
